Croft & Cotes

About

On New Year’s Day 2013, twin brothers Matt & Dan Persell-Thompson formed the duo Croft & Cotes as their one and only resolution to share their musical journey with the public and to cultivate a following …

This boy next door duo grew up in Eastcote, North West London . They found their love of music at a very early age after discovering an Everly Brothers vinyl on the opening of a Time Capsule which was dated 1963. Completely inspired and motivated they then began to teach themselves to play and sing together. Their advanced instrumentation has been complimented despite never having had a single lesson . Matt took a great inspiration from the guitar stylings of John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan . He then switched from acoustic to electric guitar in order to spend his time learning the songs and solos of everything they had to offer. Dan is an accomplished rhythm guitar player and pianist who discovered Ray Charles & Stevie Wonder. He very quickly learned the type of songs that even advanced players might struggle with. But together the boys took their main inspiration from Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers. This is because they naturally relate with the closeness and bond that these duo’s share, that you dont find in regular bands.

Croft & Cotes have since developed their own unique blend of Indie and Urban Acoustic which incorporate harmonies so tight that only twins could have. Croft & Cotes have been often described as a high energy ,breath of fresh air drawing comparisons to the likes of Keane and Bombay Bicycle Club recieving support from BBC Radio 6 Music & BBC Introducing .The songs they write have an extremely sensitive flavour which convey such nuances of emotions and naked honesty that it makes them easily relatable to fans of any age.
