About

I was fascinated by the piano as soon as my father let me touch the keys as a baby. I was taught several songs and as a 7-year-old I embarked upon a formal musical education at the Urban Academy of Music, Speech and Dance in Beringen (Belgium, BE). I grew up playing a lot of Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Beethoven,… In singing it was Dana Winner, K3, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Joss Stone, Stacie Orrico,…

I was 12 when I recorded my first self-written song Thank You at Studio Recall BE. The single ended up in the hands of Das Pop and having impressed the band, they invited me to their studio in Gent BE. Together we worked on my songs, of which around thirteen eventually ended up on a record.

At 18 I signed my first record deal with Petrolmusic BE. We then worked on a first album.

In the summer of 2011 my first single Shine was released and noticed by Radio2 BE. Somewhat later in the same year, I participated in the talent show The Voice of Flanders where they gave me the chance to expand my fanbase. Meanwhile, I broadened my horizons by going into the direction of jazz at De! Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp.

The year after, my first album got finished and was released. The album was recorded at Studio Powertone BE and Abbey Road Studios UK. The string arrangements, written and directed by Andrew Powell, were recorded at the Abbey Road Studios.

In 2014 I came close to representing Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Nothing Is Impossible – written by Mick Lee, Pernille Georgi, and Chris ‘Ruff Diamond’ Robinson; and produced by Yannic Fonderie. I reached third place having sung in the television competition series, my performance was greeted with outstanding critical acclaim and the song became a successful single.

My first album Eva Jacobs, which showcases my own songs and one cover, is now only available online. Currently, I am working on my second album that will come out very soon!
