Spanish Singer-dancer-songwriter Rocio Ruano is best known as the youngest winner in history in a National Spanish Music Contest.

Synopsis:

Rocio Ruano was born on January 31, 1993 in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, Spain.

Rocio began her career when she was only two years old as a contestant in one of the most famous National TV Music Contests in Spain: Menudo Show. 
She won the Third price in the competition and she was not only the youngest contestant in the show. In fact, she was the youngest contestant ever in history to participate in a TV Music Show in Spain.
Today you can find the video of her performance voted as one of the most viewed videos in TV.

Later that year, in 1995, she was invited to perform at final of “Menudas Estrellas´´, which it was a similar program to Menudo Show but for adults.

The following year,  at the age of 3. She was invited to perform at the Gold TP Awards. She had to sing live with other 6 kids from “Menudo Show´´ in front of 10.000 people.

In 1997, she participated in a new edition for kids of “Menudas Estrellas´´ going thru to the finals of the show.

After her appearance in the final, Rocio sign a contract with National TV 3 (known as Antena 3TV) to collaborate in other programs during the following years.
She kept going to TV shows as a Guest Artist, where she had the opportunity to sing with the most popular Spanish singers at that time; as Julio Iglesias, Karina, Alaska or Alejandro Sanz.

But also she shared stage with some international artists as Laura Pausini, the group Aqua known for their single “Barbie Girl´´ and Luis Fonsi.

Although she was already a TV character, at the age of 7 she started working as the main Character in a Musical Theatre Production called: Zalakadula.
They offered her a contract for 5 years.  She was the only child in the production.
But her dancing, acting and singing skills, made her shine over the whole cast.

Those years performing in different types of musicals, made her improve her acting skills.
It was then when the casting director of “Mirame´´, a Spanish talk show, contacted Rocio’s parents to bring her as a presenter for her Christmas Special Program.

In 2002, Rocio Ruano started studying classical ballet to develop her dancing skills.
It didn’t take her long to get signed by a Dance Company.  The first company she started working for was The Donaldson Dance Company. She was again, the youngest dancer in the company.

While she was working with the dance company, she auditioned to be part of “Se Busca Una Estrella´´ (Searching a Star). She was already 10 years old.
The auditions where done around the country and only 16 kids out of 300.000 participants, got through to the Show.
Rocio won the second position at the contest. Getting a Record Dial with Gest Music where she got to record some covers of the most famous Latin artists.

After that is when she decides to take a break from TV Shows and focus on her career as a dancer. She travelled with The Donaldson Dance Company around Spain, performing in different places during almost two years.
 

In 2009 is when she decides to take a chance and go back to audition for another TV Show: The first edition of “Spain’s Got Talent’’.  She was only 15, and she sang “Highway to Hell´´ by ACDC.
The judges were really impressed by the choice of the young teenager, but they were especially impressed by her energetic performance.
She made it through the semi-finals where she sang another ACDC song: “Shook me all night long.´´

The following year, she started working as a Wedding Singer to be able to pay her singing courses.

At the age of 17, Rocio got signed by the Gospel Choir MLou to perform around the Canary Islands for 1 year. She was, once again, the youngest singer of the choir.

Her ambition and passion for music always made her work hard to achieve her goals.
But as she was growing up, the discovered that there weren’t many opportunities ahead if she didn’t move from Gran Canaria.
So she took a risk and she decided to move to London by herself and start a new life.

She was only 18 years old and it was the first time she was living by herself in a new city.
She started busking for a few weeks until she got confident enough with the language.
Rocio managed to get an audition to sing for The Hilton Hotel in Park Lane.
At the Hilton, where she currently sings, she got the opportunity to sing with Prince Royce the song “Stand By Me´´.

In 2013 Rocio auditioned for The X Factor UK, going through to the Bootcamp being one of the last 20 candidates from all over UK and being the only one foreign female singer.
She got to perform in Wembley Arena in front of 5000 people. The judges were blown away by her performance and they always gave her a positive feedback.

After hear appearance on the ITV Show.
Rocio was contacted to participate with the rapper Arufe on his Single “Fiestera´´.
The song was nominated as the best summer song in 2014.

In 2014, Rocio started recording her original music.
The social media made her music go back to Spain and it’s then, when she flies back to Gran Canaria to perform at The Alfredo Kraus auditorium in front of 5000 people.

She has recently recorded the backing vocals for the Spanish Duo “Gemeliers´´ and at the moment, she currently sing in places such as Proud Camden, Salsa Bar in Leicester Square and The Hilton Hotel in Park Lane.
