Ash Palmer

About

Inspired by the Manchester music scene of the 80’s/90’s and Britpop/indie rock, Ash Palmer writes stories and observations of the people and places around him backed up with catchy melodies and seriously powerful vocals.

Inspired to become a musician after seeing the Stereophonics in Newcastle in December 2008, Ash picked up a guitar the following day and played his first gig at Brigg Lions Festival in 2012. Since then he’s gone on to play countless gigs around the north of England and has released four bodies of work; 2014s acoustic album ‘Missing Letters and Broken Sentences’, 2016s EP ‘A Million MPH’’ 2018s ‘The Only Mod in Manchester’ followed by his current EP ‘Ya Shouldn’t Play The Game Unless Ya Know How To Score’ in November 2018. Three of the five tracks that feature on ‘A Million MPH’ received numerous plays from BBC Introducing in Lincolnshire, and both records feature alongside a selection of covers and demos on Ashs Soundcloud page which over the years has amassed over 100,000 plays. Ash was awarded ‘best song of the year 2018’ by Midweek Music Club for his track ‘The Only Mod In Manchester’ and has been shortlisted as ‘Best Male Artist 2018’ by Bolton FM as well as being a runner up for the listeners choice award on Mod Radio.

Amongst the many gigs over the years Ash has managed to share the stage with a few of those who inspired him, bagging himself support slots with Chris Helme (The Seahorses), Mark Morris (The Bluetones), Nigel Clark (Dodgy) and Gaz Coombes (Supergrass) as well as performing at Tramlines festival and North Lincolnshires Party in the Pines festival alongside The Enemy, Reverend and the Makers, Cabbage , The Sherlocks, Jonny Brown (Twisted Wheel) amongst others. He even performed The Happy Mondays classic ‘24 Hour Party People’ with Bez alongside him at the O2 Ritz in Manchester.
