James Mackenzie

About

Hailing from Inverness in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, James moved to Nürnberg in 2017 after embarking on a successful solo tour of Germany the same year. Now performing regularly up and down the country he has played more than 100 shows with lots more to come.
James played his first show in Inverness, Scotland in 2011 and began working on his craft to engage with the audience so he could tell stories of his heartaches and failures with some witty comments in between.
In 2016 James won the ‘One To Watch’ award set up by local station Moray Firth radio. This paved the way for his first major support tour which was with Scottish Celtic-Rockers Runrig. His fanbase doubled within weeks and he sold over 2000 CDs on the road. The audience fell into the arms of his charming and humble candor which, accompanied by Chris Gorman on piano and backing vocals, led to his lengthy tour of Germany.
James is competing in Songslams throughout the country, already winning 3. He won Franconia’s “Wo ker, der Därf” this year which was curated by Nürnberg’s Altstadt Fest and Charivari Radio.
Unsigned, unmanaged and completely self-sufficient, James has been releasing music since 2012: Curtain Road being the 1st and most recently, a live album – recorded in Inverness during a brief homecoming tour.
Solo, accompanied by piano or with a full band, James delivers the same energetic performance. He continually impresses, his vocals consistently soar, and his songs stay with you like a welcoming earworm.
