John E Vistic

About

John E Vistic is a Bristol, England based singer-songwriter, and the lead singer and guitarist for the band of the same name. Described by Metro as ‘a towering figure on the [Uk] live scene’ and by BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson as a ‘cult legend’.

Vistic’s album Welcome Down the Night (July 2016), was produced by Tristan Longworth ( Jon Allen/The Third Degree) and is about ‘love, death and the landscape of the heart’. It features collaborations with members of Primal Scream, Morcheeba, Jon Allen, the Marc Ford band and Rachel Stamp as well as Katey Brooks and Vistic’s own band, The John E Vistic Rock N Roll Soundsystem. The album has been described as “…psychedelic country folk, laden with soul and thought provoking literary lyrics. Think Hozier and Johnny Cash meets The Doors with more than a dash of Jack White”. The record received great airplay on radio stations including BBC Radio Two, Radio 6, BBC Bristol, BBC London, and others.

Vistic has toured extensively around the UK and Europe and is also known for his session work with bands such as James Ray and the Black Heart Riders, Crippled Black Phoenix, Treatment (Australia), The Nurses, Emily Breeze, Way Out West and General Midi among others. The John E Vistic Rock n Roll Soundsystem has gigged with many high level bands including The Sonics (see their video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKXuJ-zkSjQ) The Jim Jones Review, The Alabama 3 and many others. He is currently working on two new albums, as well as the follow up to his Russian Winter concept album (which premiered over three sold out nights at Bristol’s Colston Hall in 2014).

John E Vistic plays live in three formats – Solo (vocals with guitar and loop pedals), 3 piece ‘Rock N Roll Soundsystem’, and 5 piece ‘album’ band (featuring Mike Crawford from the Various Sorrows/Apache Dropout and Rob Norbury (Age Decay).
