Para Delta

About

London-based Para Delta weave together soulful vocals with ambient and post-R&B/trip-hop vibes.
With roots in Ethiopia and Scotland, vocalist/lyricist Rachel Tesfaye, London-born drummer Hector
Barnicoat-Hood and Oxford man Joe Weller bring together their varied influences to create a melting
pot of sounds.

The band came together in December 2014 through a mutual love of trip-hop, classical music, jazz
and afrobeat, immersing themselves in molding their sound (all in bedroom studios in Camberwell and
Brixton, London). Hector was previously the drummer for indie band ‘Mozart Parties’ who took part in
the NME Awards Tour and Vice Tour – alongside being a session drummer for many different genre
bands. Rachel grew up singing in church and has done session singing for different house artists in
Glasgow and London – with one project being played on BBC Radio 1 Introducing. Joe previously
wrote and played synth for indie/electro/folk outfit Tristan and the Troubadours, supporting the likes
of the Subways, the Mystery Jets, Larrikin Love, and the Young Knives.
