People Poems

About

People Poems is an acoustic duo comprised of guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Harry Orme and vocalist Francesca Haincourt. In 2013, having spent 3 years as part of Leeds' instrumental/improvised music scene, Orme wanted to take what he'd learned from that aesthetic into the realm of stripped-back acoustic songwriting, and 'People Poems' was created as the title for this new body of material.

Whilst drawing comparisons to other male/female singer-songwriter duos such as Damien Rice/Lisa Hannigan and Laura Marling/Johnny Flynn, the duo strays far from standard folk harmonies – the interweaving vocals are influenced by everything from string quartets to jazz horn lines, and are paired with lyrics that couple brutal honesty and compelling narrative. In the space of a year, People Poems have released 2 EPs, toured the UK, and their momentum shows no sign of slowing as they begin work on their first full-length LP.

"…the delightful vocal harmonies sending a shiver down one’s spine.” – Mike Price, Vibrations Magazine
