Prime

About

Prime are an explosive band from Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire, UK, known for their powerful rock with indie, blues and rock 'n' roll influences. They have recently supported top ten chart band Electric Six at the o2 Academy in Sheffield and o2 Academy in Leicester and Britpop classics Space, and previously played Tramlines Festival in Sheffield, Hockley Hustle Festival in Nottingham and Phoenix Alternative Festival in Wales, amongst others. Prime have been described by the NUSIC website as "one of the best live bands" in the area and by Notts TV’s Mark Del as “a band you must check out live… Lead singer Lee is as compelling a front man as you will see”. Their debut single ‘To Be Or Not To Be’, recorded at The Animal Farm, London, was featured on Christian Carlisle’s BBC Sheffield radio show and was described by the BBC host as “a great track.” Prime are a band that are rebellious and entertaining in equal measures. ………. What the bloggers and critics said about Prime and their previous single 'Bye Bye': "Can I just say, wow… (a) kick up the arse… kicking off strong with some loud guitar and vocals, you’re hooked from the first chord… the song is raw and exciting. If you mixed the catchiness of (previous Prime track) ‘IOU’ with the melody and vocal power of ‘Bye Bye’ then you’d have pretty much the perfect track." "Prime are bristling with momentum. Fresh off the back of support slots with venerable veterans Electric Six and Space, the Sheffield/Nottingham alt-poppers have the world’s good graces on their side, pulsating with confidence. 'Bye Bye'… a single tailor-made for prime-time radio airplay… Brisk and breezy, it is endowed with a vivid and punchy sense of urgency. Everything bursts in at once as slick, coruscating guitars jitter over tightly delivered drums. Cleverly employed harmonies really enhance the crystalline poppiness… an especially clever counterpoint to Heir's concise, jauntily-delivered vocal. It feels like theres is something wicked bubbling under the surface." – David Crouch / Ben McElroy, Reyt Good Music Sheffield "Nottingham's Prime get groovy, funky and rock in this retro-feeling tune (that) bounces along like it’s carried on a breeze on a bright summer day. Vocalist Lee Heir hits all the right notes and backup singers add to the song creating brilliant harmonies." – Read Between The Lines Blog "Their sound is a tantalising concoction of heavy riffs, powerful drums and socially acute if not slightly anarchic lyrics. Brash and bold, a great energy live." – Anna Butler, NUSIC "The Notts rockers (use) a melting pot of influences from a cross section of Brit pioneers to formulate a sound that grows on your consciousness with every playback. Fronted by the indistinguishable flamboyance of front man Lee Heir with his infectious vocals, Prime are fast becoming a staple name on the Notts scene… (This release) firmly solidifies their status as one of the hardest working bands this city has seen. A luscious combination of the ska infused tracks of The Clash… with catchy yet innovative guitar and heavy hitting rhythm… It's (a) heavenly sweet vibe… Expect Prime to be making huge waves in the not so distant future" – Jack Garofalo, Wordplay / Left Lion Magazine Links, EPK and lyrics available on request.
