Shaun O'Reilly is a driven and talented musician currently based in North London. He is no stranger to the local music scene: After touring across the UK and Ireland as a member of a plethora of bands and groups, but most notable, as a half of prog rock duo War Elephant. Even with so many projects under his belt, Shaun is often on the lookout for new, exciting creative avenues. His thirst for new musical ideas led him to embark into a new journey as a solo artist, creating music that borrows from elements of folk, blues and country music. He recently recorded a brand new EP entitled “Vultures & Wine”. The release depicts Shaun’s commitment to crafting music that sounds and feels authentic – from the sheer evocative power of the performances to the textural production aesthetics that define the mood and tone of the release. On a lyrical standpoint, His vivid blend of storytelling echoes the work of beat authors such as Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs and more modern authors such as Irvine Welsh. His words are poignant and poetic, yet down to earth and extremely easy to relate to. “Vultures & Wine” released with Brass Button Records, is the follow-up to Shaun’s previous self released Ep’s, “Nostalgia Is A Broken Record” and “Tales of Everyday Madness”, The release features four tracks that tip the hat to the work of artists as diverse as Merle Haggard, Ryan Adams, Elliott Smith or Tom Waits, just to mention but a few.
