Where are you from, how long have you been playing music etc
I am originally from a place called Townsville in North Queensland, Australia. I've been singing all my life and studied classical singing before moving to London to do Musical Theatre. I loved it here so much, I married on of you and am here for good! I've always written my own music but it's only been in the last few years that I started to perform it! My Husband, Nick Burns, is in the band and he really gave me the push to start my own show.

If you had to describe your sound using just five words, what would they be?
Whimsical, dramatic, quirky, folk, pop

Who are your biggest influences musically?
I grew up with Regina Spektor, Kate Bush, Kate Miller-Heidke, Tori Amos, Sinead O’Connor, Jewel. All very unique strong and independent female artists.

What’s your songwriting process?
Generally I write poems first. I used to write poetry instead of keeping a subconscious seems to come out in rhyming couplets! And so I will often play around on the piano with some lines of a poem and then go from there. My partner in crime Nick Burns will come in at some point and start to get a structure going and then eventually we have a song!

When you were younger, what was the first album that blew you away and you remember putting on repeat non-stop?
I played No Need to Argue by The Cranberries over and over until my parents begged me to stop!

As a performer, what’s your biggest claim to fame so far?
I'm also an actor, and one of the best jobs I had was playing a Geordie folk singer in a BBC1 drama called Inspector George Gently with James Norton and Roger Lloyd Pack. I performed 2 folk songs (which you can watch and buy online!) and it was a wonderful part. That's probably what made me want to include the folk-side of things into my band, which is how I developed our folk-whimsy sound.

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?
I would LOVE to tour with Ásgeir ...absolutely love his music…I used to do Thai Chi to it every morning.

If you could put your dream team band together consisting of any musicians from the past or present who would the band members be?
I actually love my current band members so much I would never want to replace them. I would however love some backup dancers for extra pizzazz, so perhaps an interpretive dance troupe?

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?
I've been told it's energetic and fun, but also quite an emotional experience. My songs are all stories (some based on real life!) and they can range from dramatic to silly, so I think it can be quite a rollercoaster!

Do any of you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?
Before gigs I like to have some quiet time with my band. Make sure I have a fairly relaxed day so I don't feel flustered. Run through the set if I can!  Post show, we often have a party in our kitchen and dance to songs from the 90s.

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?
Is champagne too much? Maybe slippers?

If we were to browse your music library what is the most embarrassing song we might find? Or who is your guilty pleasure artist?
You may find a few Shakira songs...I just love the 'Lucky my breasts are small and humble' line!

Tell us one thing your fans would be really shocked or surprised to hear or learn about you
I've only just come to terms with the idea that I will never be an astronaut. It was my childhood dream but I think it's time I let it go. Unless they decide to send dramatic singer songwriters in to space! So maybe there is still time! Watch this space I guess…

If people want to check you out online where is the best place to go?

Finally, What does the future hold for you as an artist?
Hopefully wonderful things! I have just released my first music video for my song Dark Place, and recently filmed another in Denmark which will be due for release in the next few months. We hope to get our first album out this year as well.
