HOT VOX POP QUIZ WITH... THE SATURN CHAPTER

Today's HOT VOX Pop Quiz features The Saturn Chapter!

Who are The Saturn Chapter?

We are a four piece band from Yorkshire, Manchester and Russia, respectively. We’ve only been together a short time but we’re loving playing in this band.

Who came up with the band name and does it have a story or any meaning behind it?

The name is a reference to the Saturn return, which is the time in someone’s life that coincides with Saturn being in the same position as the day you were born. It’s meant to be the time that your decisions in life come to fruition. I was watching a lot of cult documentaries at the time and Chapter made us sound like a creepy cult - which we pretty much are!

If you had to describe the band using just five words, what would they be?

Atmospheric, psychedelic, gospel, folklore weirdos.

Who are your biggest influences musically?

Nick Cave, Bon Iver, The Doors, The Unthanks, Radiohead.

What’s the band's biggest claim to fame so far?

I used to be a dinosaur on Jurassic Park.

What’s your songwriting process?

We tend to take an embryonic acoustic demo and turn it into a Saturn Chapter song by adding cinematic layers and working it until it feels right. Our music sounds like a soundtrack for an unmade film.

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds because they’re the best live band and it’d be great being in the presence of them, like the warm glow of a nearby toaster.

If you could put your dream team band together consisting of any musicians from the past or present who would the band members be?

    Nina Simone on Piano

    Levon Helme on Drums

    Tom Morello on Guitar

     Jenny Lee Lindberg on Bass

     Billie Holiday on Vocals

     Ray Manzarek on Keys

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?

It’s like being present at a church of no religion. An uneasy feeling but strangely alluring. We remain fully clothed throughout.

Do any of you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?

We sacrifice a band member before each gig. We used to be a 12 piece.

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?

A copy of Horse & Hound, A Breville toastie maker and a cat.

This question is for all band members. If we were to browse your music library what is the most embarrassing song we might find? Or who is your guilty pleasure artist?

There are no guilty pleasures in music, only in bedrooms.

Tell us one thing your fans would be really shocked or surprised to hear or learn about the band

We are all Whitney Houston prototype holograms that they aren’t using for her tour.

If people want to check you out online where is the best place to go?

Spotify. Horse & Hound.

Finally, What does the future hold for the band?

Recording a new album in November, making a few videos, doing more gigs. Talking to strangers. Ignoring our mothers’ advice about not talking to strangers. Finding out the hard way why one mustn’t talk to strangers.
