Molly J

About

Molly J is a 22 year old French/Congolese pianist, singer, songwritter and composer. She was born in Toulouse, the fourth biggest city of France. She has been raised in a family that shared a common passion for music. Her mother used to be an African dancer and her father an African percussionist. She also has three older sisters who used to sing and dance, her two brothers used to practise Hip Hop and Breakdance. ​ She started to play the piano at the age of 7 and got graduaded at the Conservatoire de Toulouse with mention at 18 years old. The passion for singing came later as she won her first singing competition at the age of 12 years old. Her main influences are Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and most importantly Alicia Keys, who inspired her to play and sing at the same time. Alicia Keys has also influenced her in the way she writes songs, her fashion and the way she always empower women. ​ At the age of 15, she made her TV debuts as she starred in the TV Show series “Le Grand Show des Enfants” hosted by the French singer Liane Foly. It has been broadcasted on the national channel TF1 and has been seen by more than 4 millions viewers. At 17 years old, she participated as a candidate in the French version of Pop Idol, and finished finalist of this TV show. ​ From her experiences in gospel concerts with famous groups like Vocal Colors and Gospel Walk, to her collaborations in the French music industry (two singles played several times in National Radios), Molly J developped her own musical identity and played her first solo concert in Saint Cirques Madelon for the music festival Happy Days Music. It has been the first concert of the festival to receive a standing ovation.
