ABOUT THE SONG:
“Who’s alone in their hometown, and who just wants to hear the sound?”
“Hometown” is the first studio recorded and mastered single by Emergency Break – The song was written when Front
Man “Leo Gerchen” moved to New York for a year and thought about all the people he had left behind and how they
saw or represented there lives, “I wanted to write a reflective track that also screamed in your headphones like
previous Emergency Break songs with no apologies whatsoever” ,
“Hometown” Captures Front Man Leo Gerchen in his most reflective state yet writing the ballad whilst living in New
York City for a year he reflected on the people he left behind and what could change in the time he was gone – in this
year Leo secluded himself a lot and time zones and life changes meant he grew apart from a lot of people
unintentionally this lead Leo to write the song “HOMETOWN” which reflects on the current state of where he was
from a place that shaped his identity when he moved to another country.
Take a look at yourself.
We used to talk all the time.
Dancing around the ceiling
Playing with your wrists for that feeling
We used to talk for hours.
About the stones and the past comes
And you’re standing all the time.
And your shoulders are just wide.
Take a look at yourself.
Cause I’ve seen it all before.
Sitting on the floor crying
Playing with your wrists or at least trying
And then your screaming
All alone in my hometown
I just want to hear the sound.
Of common laughter ringing in my ear
When you sing that song around the money tree
Was it another thought? Or a documentary?
That’s hanging from the summer all so near.
You’re so near.
Take a look at yourself.
I lied about the way you took the truth.
Dancing around with them, friends you used to abuse
And didn’t you say that “it was always meant to be!”
And now you’re looking at me and screaming.
Whos alone in their hometown and who just wants to hear the sound
Of common laughter ringing in my ear
When you sing that song around the money tree
Was it another thought? Or a documentary?
That’s hanging from the summer all so near.
You’re so near.
I’m all alone in my hometown.
I just want to hear the sound.
Of common laughter ringing
Ringing in my ear
I’m all alone in my hometown. I just want to hear the sound.
And I’m all alone in my hometown.
I just want to hear the sound.
Of common laughter ringing in my ear
When you sing that song around the money tree
Was it another thought? Or a documentary?
That’s hanging from the summer all so near.
Cause you’re so near.
Cause you’re so near.
Cause you’re so near.
