Homegrown and fresh off the estates of Manchester, The Yowies are the new renegades of funk. The name ‘Yowie’ comes from Aboriginal folklore and is mentioned in the Australian cartoon The Big Lez Show, which inspired the band’s name. Much like Big Lez, The Yowies aim to bring a smile and playful energy to their shows while maintaining an underlying complexity of thought in their rhythmic switches.
The Yowies are a modern collective with a unique fusion of timeless funk, soul, and the infectious energy of the early 2000s. At the heart of the band’s sound are distinctive saxophone melodies, weaving through each track like a smooth, soulful thread entwining the vocal harmonies.
