The Afterword

Some tracks are so good that you can’t help but hit repeat again and again. We’re lucky enough to experience that feeling quite often with our talented roster, so we thought it would only be fair to share… Today’s TRACK OF THE DAY is AN ILLUSION by THE AFTERWORD. 

The Afterword are a London- and Oxford-based duo writing melodic indie-pop songs shaped by bittersweet self-irony, big choruses and cinematic melancholy. Songwriters Tom Walkden and Alex Billig share an instinct for melody and a fondness for music and stories that don’t always end up where they seem to be heading. Acoustic guitar and piano sit alongside electronic beats, close harmonies and more expansive arrangements. Recent performances include a headline slot at the Waves Festival in Vienna, and their songs have been played on the BBC and stations across Europe. Their debut EP, “Floating Up To Meet You”, is released on Fabrique Records on 16 October with an album set to follow next year.
