The Neutronics – Bio
The Neutronics are an independent four piece Indie-Pop band from East London. Their energetic, entertaining and electrifying live show has them sounding like a veritable army of musicians. They are augmented by two female backing singers who with their sublime choreography bring a sensuality to proceedings and their harmonies endlessly sweeten the rapid machine gun fire that relentlessly pours from the mouth of the lead vocalist.
The band was formed in 2008 when lead singer and guitarist Del. Blake met Milt Mavrakakis (keyboards) and George Malamas (bass) playing in a house band at a London club night. The band was completed when drummer Talbert Wilson joined.
At the end of 2009 The Neutronics began recording their debut; a Funk/Rock/Soul concept album loosely based around the story of an intergalatic super hero who comes to earth seeking love whilst trying to save the planet from an onslaught of terrible music.
The following two years were filled with live gigs, festivals, tours and residencies. The Neutronics were also the backing band for several high profile American and UK artists including Dwele, Omar, Don-E, Marsha Ambrosius and Clement Marfo.
So far 2013 has mostly been a year of writing and recording for The Neutronics. The band are now putting the finishing touches to their new EP "Kryptonite" realising a more pop focused indie sound. They are now ready to hit the road again with several pop hits in their high energy and extremely entertaining live show.
Quotes and reviews for The Neutronics Album and Live Show:
When Supa Soul Brotha Del pleads 'Who will save us?' in
The Neutronics' Spaceship – A Cosmic Odyssey in Four Movements,
such is their passion and gusto, you want to be believe the Neutronics
themselves will be the saviours.
Part concept album, part classic funk & soul treatise on love and sex
all stitched together with a certain tongue in cheek humour whilst
proudly wearing it's influences on it's sleeve, this record puts one in mind
of contemporaries such as OutKast as it does the more obvious touchstones of
Parliament Funkadelic and Sly & The Family Stone.
For me, what the record might lack in songwriting succinctness, it's balanced out by the sheer fun, enthusiasm and willingness to take a trip and never get up it's own arse -something which is arguably just as important. It's the sound of 4 guys
celebrating the things they love and just being themselves.

Soulful, sophisticated and so much fun. I couldn't wait to play it to my mum so she wouldn't question my taste in music anymore.
The closest we've come to time travel. These songs make me wish I belonged to the Soul/Funk generation.

The Neutronics (2012)
Nowadays most funk – even the good stuff – has so much "OMG can you believe I'm playing funk?" ironic detachment it's hard to take seriously. Which is why it's so refreshing to hear a take on the genre that's fully committed: not just to fun and excess ("Smelladocious") but the full range of emotional expression. This London-based fourpiece sounds much larger, due to judicious use of guests (particularly on the eye-opening suite "Spaceship"), an expansive mix, and – most importantly – no wasted notes. The members have mastered their elements – Milt Mavrakakis's Sly-style wah'd keyboard ("Do You Love Me"), George Malamas's Bootsy bass ("Supa Soul Brotha"), Talbert Wilson's samba rhythm on "Psychofunkadelia" – but never overuse them at the expense of the overall groove. Frontman/guitarist Delroy Blake's quest for true love – atypical for the genre to say the least – gives the album a strong through-line ("She's Gotta Be"), and every track has unique rewards. You can tell a lot about a band from the way they approach covers, and the take on "Can't Get Next To You" is not deferential or self-consciously "funked up," just calmly confident. (DBW)

So on Saturday night I took a trip down to a little public house called “The Pelton Arms” in Greenwich. As I was there I bumped into some friends of mine of the singing variety, who had all turned up to watch this band called “The Neutronics”. Now I knew close to nothing about them before the gig; but after a truly funkadelic set which had me reminiscing about years I didn’t even live through I knew I had to blog about ‘em. Check them out and try GET DOWN to one of their upcoming gigs.

Now this was my first time hearing The Neutronics and once I heard the heavy baseline & pumped up drum patterns, I knew we were in for some of that ‘Funkadelic ROCK’. The Neutronics masterfully kept the audience's energy up with their eclectic sound throughout their set and have began to pick apart their influences which included snippets from N*E*R*D, Cody ChesnuTT, Jimi Hendrix, Foo Fighters, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers to name a few. Although they are relatively new in the music scene The Neutronics are set to be a hit throughout the festival season.

Boasting influences along the likes of Prince, Sly & The Family Stone, Foo Fighters, James Brown & N*E*R*D, amongst many others – you just knew that these guys would be interesting when producing their own sound within music and incredibly unique they are too. Well worth checking out, if you haven’t already.
