Balloon Ascents

About

Balloon Ascents are a five piece alt-rock band from Oxford, with influences ranging from Neil Young and Tame Impala, Mogwai and The Beatles. They play slick melancholic indie-pop with crystalline harmonies nestled amongst math beats, psychedelic guitar grooves and rhythmical melodic bass lines. Playing together since the age of thirteen, they offer a unique glimpse into the musical melting pot of Oxford and have recently emerged from their home built studio to much acclaim.

Following their biggest show yet last November headlining the Academy 2 in Oxford, the band was invited by Radiohead's Colin Greenwood and BBC Introducing to play their Independent Venue Week Showcase showcase at The Jericho Tavern.

January 2015 also saw the band launch their long-awaited debut EP with a sold-out show. The EP includes live favourite 'Cutout' – the demo of which was included in Nightshift magazine's top 10 songs of the 2014.

Having recently played the BBC Introducing stage at Truck Festival, BBC Introducing Oxford also chose their track 'The Only One' as one of their top 10 tracks of the year so far.
