His name is Joe Traxler and he comes originally from Linz, Austria but is now living in London. The 22 year-old singer-songwriter with wild hair and scratched-up guitar tells his personal stories with a voice rich in emotional facets, somewhat reminiscent of John Mayer, Jeff Buckley and Ed Sheeran – but only distantly. Close up he’s Joe Traxler. Individual, highly emotional and moving.
What is in motion also moves others. Moved, like the fans of the successful German and Austrian bands Silbermond and Christina Stürmer who Joe has toured as support with. Or the social networks in which he has made a name for himself with regular video releases. And not least, the jury from the Austrian national TV channel’s “Die grosse Chance” as well as the Austrian Newcomer Awards, who crowned Joe Traxler as the most promising act of 2014. Mostly, however, Joe moves the audience with his songs when he plays the more intimate venues – or with his first-class band on larger stages. “A good song is like a book.” he says, “When you hear it neat, with just a guitar, you can hear the full arrangement developing in your head. Just as in a good book, every character has their own face in your mind’s eye.” When Joe writes, every line comes alive.
