The Caress are an alternative three piece based in New Cross, South East London, comprising of brothers Tom Ben & Sam Easton. Formed in December 2015, their music is visceral and melodic, with a quintessentially British charm. They mainly draw on influences such as Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, 60s Girl Bands & 80s Indie Bands. Lyrically they try to find the beauty and intrigue in the mundane and grey, through stories of youth, sex, naivety and loneliness. Their debut single ‘Why Don’t We Take A Walk By The Sea?’, recorded at Studio 7 in East London, was self-produced and received praise from the likes of Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq at BBC 6 Music. The accompanying music video starred two friends Laurie Kynaston, BBC's Cradle To Grave & Johnny Marr in 'England Is Mine', and writer/actor Louis Rembges. They released another two self-produced singles; 'Animal Passion' and 'A Picture By The Thames In Winter' before releasing their first single with Fierce Panda Records, ‘You’re Always Miles Away’ in August 2017. The single was Steve Lamacq's Livener on BBC 6 Music in September and premiered by Clash who described it as "a coy blast of melodic wordsmithery". They subsequently released debut EP 'You Say I Kiss Like A Girl' on 15th September, which included 'Man Up', 'You're Always Miles Away', 'Stephanie (Can I Apply Your Suncream?)' and live favourite 'Breakfast With Leather Apron'. The EP was self-produced and mixed / mastered by Gareth Ashton (Urban Hymns). The second single from the EP, 'Man Up', received praise from Steve Lamacq and also from BBC Introducing Kent's Abbie McCarthy. The third and final single from the EP, 'Breakfast With Leather Apron', will be released on 19th January and includes a Radio Edit and a remix by South London's Jaunts. They recorded their second EP in December 2017, once again with Gareth Ashton, at The Gravity Shack in Tooting Bec, South London, and are due to release this in Spring 2018. They have upcoming shows at Birthdays, Dalston (10th Feb), Amersham Arms, New Cross (2nd March) and The Social, Oxford Street (22nd March).
