The Sunlit Earth was established in 2011 in Gizycko – a small lake surrounded by lakes in Poland. It consists of 4 musicians: Maciej Minikowicz, Maciej Komisarczyk, Michal Prazmo and Piotr Zieliniewicz.
The Sunlit Earth’s sound is a ferocious one, evoking comparisons to the early The Strokes, combined with the melodic and energetic characteristics of the independent British scene.
The first year of the band’s activity in the Tri-City (2012) brought a lot of publicity to the band. The first concert took place as part of a competition, where the band received the journalists’ award and was invited to the final concert of the next edition of the competition.
On February 27, 2013, band’s first EP entitled “There’s Something In The Air” saw the light of day, and the same year the band recorded a long-playing album entitled “Between The Lines”. The premiere of the album released by Nasiono Records was combined with the concert and took place on February 23, 2014 during a live broadcast in Radio Gdansk.
Songs from both albums received radio exposures on Polish Radio Three among others.
In 2013, the band took part in a bands competition for the Meskie Granie festival organized by the Polish Radio Three and by the decision of the listeners, qualified to perform at the final concert of the route in Zywiec, where it played in front of a 10 thousand-plus audience.
In 2014, the band was invited to play a live concert in the Polish Radio Three studio, as well as at the Soundrive festivals in the Gdansk B90 and polenmARKt in the German Griefswald (for which the band was re-invited). In addition, the band supported the The Neighborhood and The Raveonettes on their Polish shows.
The next two years of the band’s activity are mainly concerts in Poland and Germany – an invitation to Transit Festival (Germany).
The band is set to release a second full length album in 2019.
