Penny Eyes are an indie pop/rock band made up of 4 mates from the UK surfing capital Newquay, Cornwall.

The band consists of Harry Bird (Lead Vocals/Rhythm guitar), Jack Clinton (Drums/Backing Vox), Adam Barbery (Bass/Backing Vox) and Ed Perkin (Lead Guitar). 3 of us went to school together so have known each other for years and Ed who’s originally from Bristol moved to Newquay a few years ago and completes the band. It all started developing at the end of last year when we all got together for an overdue catch up and play some music, things have gone crazy from there…

In early April 2019 the band launched their self funded debut EP ‘Bad When It’s Good’ consisting of 4 original songs across all streaming platforms. (Break Free, Bad When It’s Good, Body Moves & Real This Time). The response was overwhelming, with plays on BBC introducing and local radio, with ‘Real This Time’ being featured as the BBC intro ‘fav find’ of the week.

Penny Eyes officially launched their debut EP with a live gig in our hometown at Newquay’s ‘Dead Famous’, and the response blew us away, people were being turned away at the door. The love and support though from local gigs has been incredible.

To coincide with the EP launch they filmed and produced their own music videos for ‘Break Free’ and a live session of ‘Real This Time’, as well as launching all of their own branding and marketing to help promote the band and music.

Throughout the summer months the boys have played at some fantastic gigs and festivals, from the iconic Louisiana in Bristol, to BBC introducing stages and performances in London for the man behind Oasis and Primal Scream – Alan McGee, as well as an upcoming event with Shaun Ryder from Happy Mondays in January 2020.

In September this year the band launched their second EP ‘How Do You Feel?’, consisting of another 4 original songs (How Do You Feel?, The Gardens, The Story and Set It Off). Accompanied by a new self made music video for ‘How Do You Feel?’ the songs were all featured on BBC introducing, described as “treading the fine line between infuriatingly catchy and really soulful” as well as the title track being played multiple times on BBC Radio London.

Moving into the new year, 2020 is looking seriously promising for the band with new material being recorded in January, upcoming live events in London Soho and festival slots filling up already!
