Novelty Island is the surreal-pop project of Liverpool-based songwriter/producer, Tom McConnell. Inspired by classic pop, woozy electronica and northern wordplay.

After returning to Liverpool, he released his debut album How Are You Coping With This Century? The 12-track ‘surreal northern nervous breakdown’ was released in 2021 to 5-star reviews (Shindig / RnR) and support from BBC 6 Music. Novelty Island’s live incarnation has supported Sea Power and The Pale White and performed at Glastonbury, Liverpool Sound City and Moseley Folk Festivals.

The second Novelty Island album, ‘Wallsend Weekend Television’ was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and will be released in March 2023.
