Bear & The Woods

About

Bear & The Woods met whilst playing guitar in smoky rooms at Reading University. They played their first show in January 2012 as an acoustic three-piece and, six-months later, were recording their first, self-titled EP at Silver Street Studios upon the invitation of local producer, Graeme Rawson.
After recording ‘Bear & The Woods’, they were signed to Graeme’s label, Ubiquity Project Records and had their single ‘The Trial’ played as Demo of the Week by Linda Serck on BBC Introducing Berkshire.
Cary Smith was introduced to the band in November 2012 to help take the full-band sound from the EP on the road and, following support slots with Xtra Mile Recordings artists Ben Marwood, The Retrospective Soundtrack Players and Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun (now Solemn Sun) they headed back to the studio to release ‘Sink or Swim’ which received local critical acclaim and yet more interest from BBC Introducing Berkshire.
October 2013 saw the release of BATW’s first single, ‘Run Rabbit’, with a video from Frank Turner videographer Ben Morse and support slots for Bomber Music’s Smokey Bastard. A spate of headline shows and the band’s place as BBC Berkshire favourites firmly cemented, they were named in Hot Vox’s top 10 artists of 2013 out of a roster of over 1000 artists.
2014 saw the release of BATW’s third studio EP, Folk & Roll – a demonstration of how their sound had not only evolved, but matured – the band’s first trip to Europe & some more high-profile support shows.
2015 brings Bear & The Woods to the UK Festival circuit with a slot at BoomTown and their new single, Ecce Homo, will show a totally new side of the band.
