BooN GooN is a four-parted rockband with only one mission:
Conquering the world with their lovely fucked up progressive rock!
In novembre 2015, the three musicians Lukas Meyer (bass), Nikolas Dammers (guitar) and Helge Liepertz (drums) started to work together, totally bored by most of popular underground rock music. All of them were searching for a new band, a new thrill.
They experimented as much as possible to find their sound in the silence of their rehearsel-room in aken, called “Das Loch”. Use Google. It´s pretty easy to concentrate if you´re two meters underearth and far away from sun, moon or anyone else. Okay, maybe a bunch of weird people like the street artist Timo Pelstring. Anyways.
After producing a few progressive-like instrumentals, they started to search for a vocalist, who´d be able to handle their mix of Rock, Funk, Blues, Psychedelic, Jazz, Hip-Hop and everything else, those guys intigrated into their compositions. After three months of intense singer auditions, the fourth member was clearly found.
The man at the mic is called Henrik Schultes, his unique mix of rap, sing and shout technics were the final abilities, BooN GooN needed to bring their first music production on its way to public.
“NEOPHONIC-EP” isn´t just the title. It expresses the musician´s first try of introducing all their different influences into one compromized concept. Without genre borders, without brain borders. The lyrics are written by Henrik and Niklas , both are always reflecting their personal experiences as honest and direct as possible. Life and death, love and hate, nature and civilization are a few motives, they´ve been inspired by.
Because of technical difficulties, Helge , Lukas and Niklas had no other choice than recording all instrumentals in their rehearsel room in one day in august ´16. The recording sessions of Henrik´s vocals, a few analog takes (rainmaker, percussions, etc.) and a guest part by choir singer Tabea Naeven took their time until january ´17. After that, the three instrumentalists started mixing and mastering on their own. While the whole production process, the band never saw a music studio from inside.
In late summer `16, BooN GooN started connecting to other art forms to expand their concept about musically borders. The habilitated collage artist Marko Köppe decided to support the innovative project and created a graphic universe to give it another facette. Every single song, all tour anouncements and merchandise articles got a design, which fits into concept and asthetic the band worked out together with Köppe.
That release in their back, BooN GooN started to practice their true passion:
Playing live in front of an audiance, which is interested in handmade, alternative music. After their first gig on march 18th, the band played over 25 gigs all over Germany and the Netherlands in 2017. After sharing one stage with national and international acts like FORMOSA, Wegbier, Under The Tongue, Sober Truth, The Ghost:Legion and many more, BooN GooN is pretty excited about announcing about 50 gigs in more than 6 countries in first half of 2018, including playing an opener show for their heroes Stoned Jesus in Sarajevo [B&H]. Also, the band gets the chance to support german 70s-progressive-heroes NECRONOMICON in their hometown.
