Meeting at a notorius late night jam session in a hostel in Bournemouth in 2013, Alex and Leo connected over their mutual love of alternative folk – and gradually established themselves as fuzz-pop duo 'elephant' – recording a debut album under Southern Summer Records, gaining BBC Radio 6 play, and going onto to play gigs such at the respected Union Chapel, Purbeck Folk festival and St Pancras Old Church.
However in Winter 2015 – wanting to branch out, expand the sound – and to use thier skills as multi-instrumentalists, Martha was bought in Cello, vocal and bass dutues, and Alex after another chance meeting at The Silver Bullet, Alex met Fillip who compelted the line up.
Taking infleunces from Anti-Folk, Americana, 60s Pop and 90s Indie – and towards some more obscure influences – Boy And Balloon represents a hybrid of styles, with all members changing instrumets to create a broad sound – reigned in and underpinned by Alex's unique, honest (and sometimes sarcastic) vocal delivery. Think Jeffery Lewis meets Belle And Sebastian meets Blur
