Bright Smoke

About

“Bright Smoke” is the newly evolved "Bryony Marie Fry".  She continues her solo venture with fresh material formed of twinkly melodies, raw lyrics and a passion you've never seen before.
After announcing her new stage name during her Blissfields Festival performance in 2013, Bright Smoke went on to support New Desert Blues for their single launch one week later. This was the first gig she was officially listed as Bright Smoke, and it marked the end of one chapter, and the start of another…

Bright Smoke takes influences from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Melanie Safka, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and Patti Smith, right through to Amy Winehouse, Laura Marling and Father John Misty.

Under her previous stage name, Bryony had supported many artists such as Wolf Alice, Bastille, Damien Dempsey and Karima Francis. She has also played at Glastonbury Festival 2 years running @ The Rabbit Hole, Southsea Fest, Endorse It In Dorset, Glade Festival, Blissfields Festival x 2 years running, and many more.

Here are just a couple of quotes regarding Bright Smoke’s music:

– Bugbear Bookings:
"Bright Smoke- the very talented Bryony Marie Fry – singer songwriter with a kool n kooky psychedelic image and ethereal dreamy narco edge to the material. Think a young Joni M or Joan B approach to the vocal thru some deft playing and nicely pitched finger pickin with marvelously moody minor key changes."

– It's All Indie
"She's certainly got the talent, now all she needs is that rise to fame!"

– LITTLE INDIE BLOGS (Featured by The Guardian)
"Acoustic indie folk singer/songwriter Bright Smoke – aka Bryony Fry – is a Southampton-based artist with one of those voices that just draws you in and holds you right there".
"Her songs are ethereal and of that wistfully evocative quality".

-JANIS WINEHOUSE (On twitter 04/11/13)
"@BrightSmokeHQ Somebody MUST sign this girl she is soooo talented love Janis xxx "
