Charlie Leavy

About

Charlie Leavy is an Oxfordshire based singer songwriter and has just turned 18. A multi-instrumentalist, she generally gigs with just her acoustic guitar. Her set generally includes an eclectic mix of upbeat pop songs with occasional influences of country and folk & maybe the odd original/cover in Korean, Japanese or Spanish. Now in the last year of her A levels, she still managed about 85 gigs in 2014 and once her A levels end in June, has a busy schedule for summer 2015 planned. Charlie has now written over 100 original tracks with most available on Soundcloud.

Late 2014 saw Charlie release her debut EP entitled, "The Best Damn Ride" and has been the subject of numerous music blogs & on-line magazines, including Unsigned & Independent, rating her EP 10/10. Mid-September saw Reverbnation make Charlie a Featured Artist.

Charlie has had numerous tracks played on BBC Oxford, BBC Leeds, BBC National Radio, BBC 6 Music & numerous local commercial radio stations (in the UK & US), including EDA Music Radio where her entire EP has been on rotation since its release.

Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music, "Out there in Streaming Land there are naturally gifted singers and then there are the rest of us, and you can tell within seconds that Charlie Leavy belongs effortlessly in the first category. In the coming years she’ll be able to pick pretty much any direction she wants to and, with enough hard work, make a success of it."

Will Gompertz, BBC Arts Editor, "Charlie Leavy reminds me of a young Kate Bush"

Art Lagun, Nightshift magazine, "True to form the first act tonight proves to be the most interesting. Charlie Leavy makes a big impact with just her voice and an acoustic guitar, sounding more California than her native Hook Norton. Relentlessly upbeat, one great song follows another, catchy tunes with straightforward yet personal lyrics like the poignant ‘Tongue Tied’. Only seventeen, she writes and performs with frank simplicity that comes as a breath of vitalising air, her take on Pixie Lott’s ‘Mama Do’ trouncing the original.
