About
Chris Hornsby is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from the wilds of Northumberland and now living in South London. His songs are lyrically inventive and cinematic, influenced by classics such as Leonard Cohen and Dylan but also by the contemporary folk composers Billy Bragg and Richard Thompson. A hint of Nirvana and Uncle Tupelo add a certain amount of alternative edge to the mix.
His debut single 'I Was Hoping I'd Run Into You' was performed and recorded almost entirely by Chris in his own studio and mastered at The East Wing in Newcastle. It's a barnstormer of a song with lyrics that throw imagery at you faster than you can duck. Futility, failure and optimism are covered in under three minutes, with a catchy hook to help it on it's way. The two B-Sides, 'Black Suit', and 'Star Girl', cover funerals and star gazing youthful dreams respectively.
