Ese & The Vooduu People Brixton-based Ese & The Vooduu People are singer/songwriter/guitarist Ese Okorodudu, bassist Basile Petite and ex-Noisette drummer Pharoah Russell. Acclaimed for her original songwriting, world-class soulful voice and signature guitar which mashes rock, funk, jazz, grunge and psychedelia, South London-born Ese is no stage school product but the real, self-schooled deal who has lived every minute of her gripping songs. A fiery, sensitive, poetic yet wildly entertaining songwriter, she is also what the legendary hip hop engineer/producer/beatmaster Jay Burnett (Beastie Boys, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Afrika Bambaataa etc etc) describes as “the best natural singer I’ve heard in 30 years”. She and her band are inspired by a range of legends from Jimi Hendrix to Amy Winehouse, Skunk Anansie to Erykah Badu. A killer live act, they are signed to Quadrafon and, produced by Jay Burnett, have released two singles, Fairytale and Dynamite, whose respective videos were directed by Andy Lee and Jamie De’Ath. Both singles have been played on the radio all over the UK.
