About

// FORTNIGHT IN FLORIDA //

London based 4 piece, Fortnight in Florida, are a self-produced collaboration of four performers from diverse musical backgrounds who cite Holy Ghost!, Toro Y Moi, and Gramme amongst their biggest influences.

The name ‘Fortnight In Florida’ represents the sparkling colourscape of warm seas, cool breezes and laid-back vibes of the long-awaited holiday abroad, and it is from this imagery of anticipation that the band have created their soundworld of Downtempo Electro Pop – atmostpheric pop songs with a pulse.

Born out of a shared love of shimmering disco, 80’s synth pop, and an encyclopaedic recollection of Alan Partridge quotes, they met on a previous project of the group’s singer-songwriter Simon Middleton. 'Fortnight In Florida' was the exit strategy should all else fail, and break-away members Eamonn Dawe (Bass/Guitars) and Andrew Sleightholme (Piano/Synths) joined forces for what has become this new parachute project, shortly followed by the arrival of Andrew Gallop on Drums.

With a vast back catalogue of ideas and works in progress, the DIY band started to produce a debut album in 2014, with a little help on six tracks from session drummer Jay Sikora (Paolo Nutini, Lianne La Havas), whom Simon became friends with whilst touring as keys player for Lianne La Havas in 2011, with drums engineered by 'MPG Beakthrough Engineer 2014’ – Dan Cox at Urchin studios.

With completion of the debut album over the halfway point, the first single ‘Your House’ was released last summer with a second single ‘Cameo’ released in June 2015.
