Hannah Rose Platt is an exciting young artist who performs self penned songs that blend Americana tunes with lyrics that tell contemporary folk tales. Featuring beautifully drawn characters that are totally believable, stories that beguile and enthral, her music is both uplifting and poignant. Her voice, as pure and truthful as the stories she tells, is gently carried along on her delicately picked guitar melodies.
Originally from Liverpool, Hannah is now based in London where she studied at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP). Fellow students included rapidly rising acts Daughter and George Frakes. Amongst such illustrious company, upon graduating in 2011, Hannah was awarded the “Best Overall Award for Songwriting”.
In 2012 Hannah had a productive trip to Nashville, USA. The trip included several successful performances at well known and prestigious Nashville venues and culminated in a recording session at the studio of Michael Bonagura (Baillie & The Boys). The session resulted in the beautiful, Bonagura produced track ‘Daughter’ that features contributions from Andrea Zonn – violin (James Taylor, Alison Kraus, Vince Gill) and Alyssa Bonagura – piano. The track has since been picked up by Europe’s No.1 country radio station CMR Nashville where it has received considerable airplay. 2014 will see Hannah return to Nashville to record her first full-length album, again with Michael Bonagura at the controls.
‘Daughter’ is included as one of five tracks on Hannah’s debut EP, ‘1954… and other stories’. The other four songs were recorded in London with Guy Chamber’s house producer/engineer Paul Stanborough at Sleeper Sounds and Studio 301. Each is given a full band treatment and yet they all preserve a beauty and simplicity that allows her voice, thoughtful melodies and skilful guitar playing to shine through. The title track ‘1954’ (a touching tale told through the eyes of a woman suffering from dementia) has already received considerable airplay and requests on BBC Radio Merseyside.
Over the last two years Hannah has been gigging regularly at some of London’s most respected acoustic venues including, The Bedford, The Regal Room, The Troubadour, The Green Note, The Half Moon (Putney) and The Finsbury. She has previously shared stages with Roddy Frame, Pete Wylie, Gina Villalobos, Lisa Redford, David Rothon (Redlands Palomino Co.) and Ben Bedford amongst many others.
We predict that with the release of ‘1954… and other stories’ the following months are going to be an exciting and busy time for Hannah Rose Platt.
