With a love of Milky Tea and Etta James, Jordan Mackampa is the boy next door with the heart melting voice and song writing talent to match. Hailing from the Democratic Republic of Congo and growing up in London and Coventry, Jordan combines his classic soulful voice with the simplicity of an acoustic guitar to create beautifully crafted songs that are a joy to have stuck in your head all day long.
Mackampa’s talents have changed and evolved over time. Beginning as a straight RnB singer, working with MC’s and Rappers, Jordan found an ability to breathe a soulfulness and tender touch into the music. In moving to Coventry, Jordan was exposed to a different music scene, with regular trips to the more intimate venues Coventry posses, Mackampa quickly fell in love with the indie scene that awaited him in the midlands. After picking up a guitar, Jordan found the combination of his soulful voice and acoustic talents a winner with crowds of all ages.
Jordan’s music has become a mix off his family’s firm favourites from his Congolese roots, to his mother’s adoration of the great divas and his own love for the likes of Matt Corby, Michael Kiwanuka and Bombay Bicycle Club, JM’s music crosses the genres and has a spell bounding quality to it.
