About
Leo and the Seraphim make music which they love and which lots of people are starting to say nice things about. It sounds a bit like an angry distorted bear eating beautiful melodic summer berries. They are hoping this will lead to a life on the road playing to everyone and enough money to buy a large shiny red boat called Maud. The kind that would suit pirates. Chris McDonald is the lead singer and songwriter and used to play beardy folk music which he loved but not quite as much as shouting things from a stage of distorted guitars, driving bass and powerful thumping drum rhythms. He is hoping the use of third person narrative will disguise that he wrote this. An excellent mix of musicians from well loved Nottingham bands have come together for the red boat campaign. Parks, Foncheros, Emmett Brown, Harleigh Blu and Ulysses Storm are all projects they have made noise for. Chris has written with Liam Bailey, Ria Ritchie, Natalie Duncan, Lexy and the Kill and Jazz Morley and many more. Although this year is Leo and the Seraphim's first they are already enjoying attention from the production team behind The Black Keys, Jake Bugg, The 1975, Tribes and Arctic Monkeys. Above all they are enjoying making and playing the music they've always wanted to make and in the silences they hear the sound of the sea and the promise of a boat.
