About

MATILDAZ are erupting on the underground music scene in London, reaching out to diversify their audience with a succession of powerful gigs of Post-Punk/Blues/Rock. The duo, founded and fronted by Matilda with the thundering and evocative bass of Jackson, have played at a number of prestigious venues across London and made numerous festival appearances including Eden, Green Man, Wilderness, End of the Road, 1234 Festival in London and The London Vintage Festival. MATILDAZ have been played twice by Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music. They featured on both his Introducing Mixtape and After Hours show in January 2014.

"Matilda belts out powerful vocals, dominating and squeezing the soul out of her material, which switches between a funk-like punk and an angrier tribal sound."
" I’m extremely excited about this band’s new work. A must-watch for the future" Sarah Robertson, Neon Filler Music Magazine, BarFly Review

The two met at Green Man festival in 2012 and the two began to collaborate in June 2013. His strong captivating riffs dance with the blusey melodies of Matilda's vocals.

Rock, Blues, Punk, classical and African ryhthms influence their musical foundations. Strong inspirations range from Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone & Rosetta Tharpe to Southern Death Cult, Pixies & Led Zeppelin.

MATILDAZ are gigging extensively around London and the rest of the UK with various acts including Authur Brown and Kyshera in 2015.
