Matthew Ridley

About

A singer-songwriter from South London, Matthew Ridley started playing gigging whilst still in school, spurred on after nights spent bustled in at the back of the room of The Easycome acoustic club in Peckham, listening to the likes of Andy Hank, Ben Folke Thomas and Trevor Lee.

Pillaging the record collections of the same people who took him to The Easycome, Matthew grew up listening to everything ranging from John Coltrane and Bert Jansch to Prefab Sprout and King Crimson. Matthew probably takes his biggest leads from classic acoustic singer-songwriters like John Martyn, Nick Drake, Tim Buckley through to modern day contemporaries like Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, Ryley Walker and many more.
