Ponk is James Rowley, a London-based songwriter making ethereal funky alternative yacht rock pop, in fact he’s even created a genre that is still in the process of naming. He tries to emulate the greats like Steely Dan, Frank Zappa and Michael Franks – they are his obvious inspirations that help him create melodies that wander somewhere strange. He is also a First-Class Computer Science graduate who scored 48 tracks for a game he built himself, having, by his own account, completed the tutorial of life. He records independently and plays anywhere people will listen. He only asks that you keep your legs straight when you hit the water; nobody has established why.
