Building on the success of her debut album The Wild, The Wilderness, Rina Mushonga’s hotly anticipated follow up EP is an inspiring collection of songs from a unique artist reaching the heights of musical excellence.
Striking the perfect balance between song-craft and sonic ingenuity, Bullet is a faultlessly produced soundscape of shimmering synth textures that is bought to life by Mushonga’s emotionally charged vocal performances. Exhilarating and haunting in equal measure, Bullet traverses the range of her eclectic musical touchstones, from the anthemic euphoria of the EP’s title track to African inflected synth-pop and soulful, searching electronic ballads. The result is a poignant EP that marries the best of contemporary music production with timeless songwriting that packs a powerful emotional punch.
Gaining both momentum and esteem, Rina Mushonga has caught the attention of some of the very best musicians and producers working today. Her debut album saw her collaborate with Multi-platinum and Mercury nominated British producer Chris Bond, while a remix of her hit single ‘Eastern Highlands’ by sought-after producer Joris Voorn was met with critical and popular acclaim. For the making of Bullet Mushonga returned to The Netherlands, to write and develop her new sound in co-producer Frans Verburg’s Rotterdam basement. Performed, recorded and produced almost entirely by the pair, Bullet is a both an exceptional technical accomplishment and an impressive showcase of the full depth and range of Rina Mushonga’s inimitable musical gifts.
