About
In April 2011, singer/songwriter Neil Grant was looking for musicians to record a selection of songs he had written over the previous few years. The songs had initially been recorded in 2009 with just an acoustic guitar and a vocal track, but after listening to them back, it was decided that they had more of a band feeling to them.
Following a discussion with friend and bassist Ali Hamilton, the pair decided to put a band together to record the album. After a number of phone calls and discussions, the band met at Valley Rehearsal Studios in Winchester to play through the material.
After just one session, it was very apparent that there was a great chemistry both with the songs and the musicians, so the group set about rehearsing to record the album the following October.
After three months of practice and refinement, the band stepped onto stage at The Railway Inn in Winchester on Friday 30th September and played the tracks from the album to a very receptive audience, which set the tone for the weekend that followed.
The next two days were spent recording the album with engineer and friend Dave "Chops" Wallace, in the garage space at drummer Greg Trimmings family home. The results were more than the band could have hoped for…
The name Rivertone had been adopted and after three months of further recording and mixing the album was released on 28th Jan 2012 with another well attended show at The Railway.
The album "Shelter From The Sun" is now available worldwide and the band have finished recording their second album "Go With The Flow", which will be available in May 2013…
