Born in Edinburgh, Ruth set her sights on stardom at the age of 8, training in musical theatre, upon completing a degree in performing arts she realised her overriding passion was for music. With influences ranging from classic singer-songwriters Neil Young, Daughter and Damien Rice to hip-pop chanteuse Nelly Furtado and acoustic teen sensation Birdy, Granton's musical vision is broad. Also inspired by Scots songstress Amy Macdonald and fellow countrymen Frightened Rabbit, her dream duet partners "would have to be Jason Mraz and my favourite artist, Ray LaMontagne."
