Said the Maiden are a new Hertfordshire-based vocal trio, playing traditional folk songs their way and having a whale of a time doing it. All musicians from an early age, they were involved in shows and concerts together at school in St Albans, but found few outlets for their talents in the working world – until they learned a couple of songs to play at nearby Redbourn Folk Club just for fun. When the crowd called for more but they didn't have any more to sing, they knew they were onto something! Their well-matched vocals and gorgeous arrangements bring new life to traditional songs, and over time they have fleshed out their sound with accompaniments on the accordion, ukulele, guitar, violin and flute. They have been blown away by the praise and encouragement they've received from the folk community so far, and in just one year have found themselves playing dozens of gigs around Herts and London, from folk clubs and fundraisers to festivals, local talent showcases and headline spots – and their 2013 calendar is filling up fast!
