WW Records Press Release: Jan 2014

"Scatter, released on WW Records, marks the debut solo release of Sam Mumford. This sound crafting musician has been collaborating openly over the past few years, though much of it beneath the mainstream radar. Various projects have seen him write, perform and exhibit in Europe, Asia, Africa and the U.S., but this current incarnation as a two-piece is without question the most personal, defining a new pathway that we can expect a lot more from. The writing is raw and yet the sound refined: carefully crafted guitar and drum parts weaved with laid bare voice, followed by driving beats hammering guitar lines and tender song.

“Scatter is a product of a tight collaboration with drummer/producer Guy 'Wampa' Wood. We locked the doors and made the record. I had strong ideas, the record was always meant to be taken as one block of thinking, and Guy just tapped straight into that – making it all tie together better than I had hoped”

It's as much an instrumental record as it is a collection of songs; intrepid vocals and raw production take you through landscapes of still and intimate

sculpted guitar parts with intrinsic voice, through to moments of driving drums and distortion, all combining to tell it. You know you are listening to a record where all the pieces have been carefully put together and you can relax, sit back and let it happen."
