Self Help

About

Self Help, recently tipped by prominent Oxford music monthly Nightshift and BBC Introducing as “new local band most likely-to-be”, have got a name for themselves for their energetic live shows. Self Help was born in Oxford in 2017, when guitarist/singer Danny met drummer Silke and the pair realised a shared love for clever, in your face rock and roll. The duo were soon joined by bassist Lizzie and guitarist Sean, who had also found refuge in the Oxford music scene. The unusual combination of a fierce female rhythm section and the shouty but sensitive boys on guitar soon started to make waves and attract the attention of local music hero Ronan Munro, BBC’s Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and Dave Gilyeat, as well as ardent fans who turn up to every show.
