Sinister Flynn

About

Sinister Flynn are a five piece Skunk Rock smack in the face!
Skunk Rock? A little bit of Ska, a little bit of Funk and a whole lot of Rock!
Since 2001 Sinister Flynn have been tearing up stages across the country with their intense live show and high energy songs.
Formed by bass player Doug Heede to perform his own material, Sinister Flynn are an energetic mix of rock, funk, ska and punk. Sinister Flynn have made headlining appearances at Glasgow’s Renfrew Ferry, Cathouse, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and across the west of Scotland.
Sinister Flynn have played to festival audiences in Scotland and the North of England including the Eden Festival, Glasgow South Side Festival, Ravenstonedale Festival and the Bfest in Wick, supporting the Proclaimers.
Manic front man Mick O’Hare prowls the stage to the backdrop of pounding bass lines from Doug Heede and Peter Dunlop on drums, while Gaz Davies (guitar) and Ryan Wilson (saxophone) provide an explosion of colour as some of Scotland’s freshest sounds come to life.
Their debut album The Revenge of Meathook Murphy was released in August 2012 and the follow up Snake Oil in March 2017.

Snake Oil was recorded at Glasgow’s Green Door Studios. A small, cramped all analogue studio where the tape really was rolling! Snake Oil was recorded over an eight month period and produced by Ali Walker, who also produced the first Sinister Flynn album, The Revenge of Meathook Murphy.
Inspired by a diverse range of acts from rock greats Alice Cooper, Kiss, Guns and Roses, Black Sabbath, Nick Cave and the Cramps to jazz masters John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley it all adds up to a hard rocking, funky sound that constantly stretches the boundaries of a band that has few limits and isn’t afraid to play a polka!
With the release of Snake Oil Sinister Flynn want to bring their ferocious live show to as many new places as possible and introduce new fans to the sound of skunk rock.
