SXMSON is a R&B/pop singer-songwriter born and raised in North-West London, who grew up listening to the sounds of 90s R&B music. Early fruits of his labour came from the release of his debut single ‘In My Mind’ and follow up track ‘Disguise’, which were both produced by the Zane Lowe approved SAKIMA. After taking a brief hiatus from releasing music, SXMSON has been in the studio writing material with the likes of Grammy nominated Maths Time Joy (Mahalia, Snakehips, Gallant), Gil Lewis (Liv, Dawson, Eurovision 2018) and OneBit (Noah Cyrus), as well as writing for developing artists on their own projects. Since then, SXMSON released his acoustic Summer jam, ‘Champagne Bed’, and his newest single, ‘Fool’s Paradise’.
At the age of 16, SXMSON began developing his craft as a songwriter and working alongside an array of producers in his spare time. It wasn’t until he moved away from home to study at the University of Leeds in Communications Studies, where he fully honed in on his songwriting ability, taking inspiration from his own experiences of growing up in an Iranian/Jewish household and self identifying as LGBT+.
The 26yo draws his musical influences from legends Prince and Stevie Wonder and also contemporary acts like Miguel, Frank Ocean, NAO, Hayley Kiyoko and Gallant to name a few. With previous acclaim of his music from the likes of BBC Introducing, KCRW Radio in LA and actress Chloe Grace Moretz, SXMSON has been described as “a new rising star” (Ear Milk) with “one of the most engaging vocals” (About to Blow).
