Teal

TEAL are an Garage Rock duo from Medway in Kent. Our demo is heavily inspired by The White Stripes, despite not even listening to them until after its release, which is a pleasant surprise. The band consists of Stephen Fishman on the guitar and vocals, and Rosa Loveridge- Greene on the drums. Stephen has taken time out of university to focus on music, whereas Rosa couldn’t get into university. The band was formed and named in our favourite pub, the Man of Kent, in Rochester, during a drunken philosophical conversation about the concept of creating new colours. We decided on our sound the day Stephen bought his Big Muff pedal.

Our demo is called ‘demo’ because it is our demo. We submitted the track ‘Manmoth’ from it onto BBC Introducing one day after it was recorded and the day after that it was selected to be played on BBC Radio Kent. ‘Manmoth’ was inspired by Karl Pilkington after he confused wooly mammoths with a half man half moth creature. Just recently, the track, “Terror Duck Teal”, has been added to the Soundcloud Playlist, “Stuck In Our Heads’, by The London Economist Newspaper. The music reviewer ‘The Pigeon Hole’, who has had published articles in the London Economist, reviewed our whole EP, comparing us to The White Stripes, and giving each track a detailed description. He said that we are “the most hardcore psychedelic rock I think I’ve ever come across” and that our demo is “sophisticatedly recorded with every little element expertly executed.” Full demo reviews have been written also by Indie magazine, “The Indiependent” and ALT Music Box.

At the moment, the band are awaiting a very important response from BBC to confirm our attendance on Bargain Hunt.
