Tereza Catarov blends modern jazz with the haunting beauty of Balkan folk traditions, creating music that explores memory, heritage, and the lives of women who came before her. Rooted in Romanian and Bulgarian cultures, her sound weaves ancient melodies and complex rhythms into bold, contemporary arrangements—both timeless and deeply personal.

At the heart of her work is Koren (“root”), her debut album inspired by her grandmothers and childhood community. Through a series of musical portraits, it honours lived experience and inherited stories, reimagined through a modern jazz lens. Acclaimed by Jazzwise and Songlines, Koren has been recognised as one of 2025’s essential releases.
