The Academy of SunThe sheer forceful transcendence of The Academy of Sun’s queer, visceral gnostic post-punk rhythm’n’drone has seen them perform with Shara Nelson of Massive Attack at Brighton Dome Studio Theatre (where they drowned out Texas), The Old Market, Hove, with an Arts Council-supported multimedia happening, on boats moored up The Thames, and in a memorable BBC Introducing session that had the presenters yelling “Genius! Genius!” in a flurry of golden apples and glorious sonic assault.
Lead singer and songwriter Nick Hudson earlier this year embarked on a two-month tour Europe and The Middle East with members of NYC’s Kayo Dot, with whom he performed at The Stone in NYC last summer. His work both solo and with The Academy Of Sun has seen him enjoy acclaim from Julian Cope, Current 93’s David Tibet, members of Massive Attack, Sunn O))) and others.
