The Institutes

About

The Institutes started writing together last summer and had their debut live performance in August last year. From then on they’ve gone on to perform with Kings Of Leon at the Genting Arena and the superband YOTA (Gorillaz, Beady Eye), playing up and down the country. The Institutes debut single, Million Miles was recorded and produced by Gavin Monaghan (Editors). Self released in February 2017, it enjoyed critical acclaim from the likes of Owen Morris (Oasis) who hailed it as “epic with stunning melodies” and Richard McNamara (Embrace) describing it as “Immense”.

Drawn together by music that is as eclectic as it is themed, The Institutes are a thoughtful and innovative quartet. Melodic, energetic, peaceful and furious in their exploration of love, life and the social structures that bind us as much as they divide us. The Institutes seek textures in their hooks and rhythm in their wrath. Drawing from the traditions of English sounding melodic guitar based bands, their set is front-loaded with the most creative songs, but the entire track listing stays sincere. Moments feel appropriately urgent, whilst almost immediately becoming intimate and brazenly honest.

Continuing to tour as much as possible, stopping by festivals in Leeds and elsewhere plus a spot on the mainstage of the UKs largest free festival Godiva Festival.

Over the coming summer The Institutes are due to release their follow up single. Having teamed up once again with Gavin Monaghan, All I Need is set to build on the rapid rise of the quartet as the band set themselves the target of smashing through the 3.4k YouTube views of their debut.
