The London Soundpainting Orchestra

About

This cutting-edge improvisers orchestra is an evolving collective of artists led by Chilean/Belgian pianist/composer Diego Ghymers. In different formations and sizes, they have performed in such diverse places as the Southbank Center, The London Coliseum (ENO), the ICA, Shunt, Cafe 1001, Richmix, etc.

Soundpainting is a live composition technique developed from the 1970's as an evolution of Frank Zappa’s, Butch Morris’ and Sun Ra's experiments. Through a sign language, a “Soundpainter” creates live compositions with the improvised responses of an ensemble of performers.

This collective creative process in full sight of the audience and a broad range of influences and backgrounds from talented young musicians (from Jazz to Electronics, Rock to Classical) make it a captivating, eclectic, truly contemporary show. You can't pigeonhole this !
